The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This stretch of Blackburn Creek is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. The scenic beauty of Crawford County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers,
there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are no other stretches to paddle along Blackburn Creek than the Devils Den State Park to Highway 220 stretch. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in
advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful.

come with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Blackburn Creek dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. Blackburn Creek ordinarily gets a good deal of rainfall; all through May this area sees the most rain while January is mostly the driest month. Hiking along the Butterfield Hiking Trail is delightful fun.
