Arkansas whitewater - Blakely Creek - North Fork, Ouachita Mountains, Hot Spring County Hot Spring county, North Fork Road to Highway 84 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II     2.9 miles   This stream is really small and can only be paddled after locally heavy rain. Most of the rapids are in the first half mile and a few more when you join up with the main fork of Blakely creek. De Roche creek nearby is a better run but this would make a good chaser or a good intro to creek paddleing. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Hot Springs, if you're not familiar with the area there's     a road map further down the page. The North Fork Road to Highway 84 stretch of Blakely Creek - North Fork is 2.9 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for   beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Ouachita Mountains is a great experience. Blakely Creek - North Fork doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the North Fork Road to Highway 84 section is the only one. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: Blakely Creek - North Fork is a wet location that gets a good deal of precipitation; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. Throughout the summertime months at Blakely Creek - North Fork temperatures are usually in the 90's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 70's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Blakely Creek - North Fork.
