This stream is really small and can only be paddled after locally heavy rain. Most of the rapids are in the first half mile and a few more when you join up with the main fork of Blakely creek. De Roche creek nearby is a better run but this would make a good chaser or a good intro to creek paddleing. Says Greg Parker
The natural beauty of Hot Spring County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Hot Springs, if you're not familiar with the area there's
a road map further down the page. The North Fork Road to Highway 84 stretch of Blakely Creek - North Fork is 2.9 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back
to put-in a few times. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for
beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Ouachita Mountains is a great experience. Blakely Creek - North Fork doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the North Fork Road to Highway 84 section is the only one. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have
a lot of people coming here.
