The starting point is not too far from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Bobtail Creek beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This stretch of Bobtail Creek is 2.75 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater
as a class III-IV+ section. This is the only paddling stretch along Bobtail Creek. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will
make you glad you came. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. The campgrounds here at Bobtail Creek are pretty good. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Bobtail Creek during the long summer days are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Bobtail Creek tend to be in the 20's. Short Bobtail Hollow is a perfect spot to
stop at in the neighborhood of Bobtail Creek, and going for a hike along the Hideout Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. Bobtail Creek is a reasonably wet place frequently with a great deal of rain; the month of May is the wettest with most of
the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Boston Mountains.
