The NFR 1463 to Highway 21 stretch of Buffalo River in Newton County is 13.6 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III+ section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Newton County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Harrison, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you
want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find
lots of paddling places. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The NFR 1463 to Highway 21 section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
