  The put-in location is a short drive from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The scenic beauty of Arkansas and the
    water flowing gracefully down Buffalo River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful. This section of Buffalo River in Newton County is 13.6 miles long and has been
rated as a class II-III+ section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The NFR 1463 to Highway 21 stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. For all you camping people there are campgrounds  
nearby. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff.

Briefly about the general area:
A magnificent spot near Buffalo River is Little Pine Hollow, and places like Ozark National Forest are great to visit. Having a great time in the Boston Mountains is painless. There is a wonderful hiking trail next to Buffalo River called the Boston Cutoff, and if you're popping by from Deer, you won't be the only one. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. Going for a hike on the Turkey Trail is always a pleasant adventure. Buffalo River is a quite wet place frequently with a great deal of precipitation.
