This section of Buffalo River in Newton County is 13.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III+ section of whitewater. If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. There aren’t any hotels right
nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots.
