The Boxley to Ponca section of Buffalo River in Newton County is 6.1 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful. The campgrounds     here at Buffalo River are pretty good. The natural beauty of Arkansas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Buffalo River sees pretty high levels of precipitation;   May is when you get the most rain here, and January meanwhile is the driest month. A trip to Buffalo River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Eden Falls, and you could always discover Big Hollow. Through the summertime months highs here at Buffalo River get into the 90's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Buffalo River.
