The Ponca to Kyles section of Buffalo River is 10.6 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Arkansas and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at
a nearby campground. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camping stuff. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The put-in location is a short
drive from Harrison, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Ponca to Kyles section is just one of them.
Briefly about the general area: You completely should adore the Boston Mountains. No need to travel far to pop by exciting stuff like Big Bluff; since
you're here why not stop at Jackies Big Hollow. You simply should have a look at Jim Bluff since you're here at Buffalo River, and California Point is not far at all. This is such a fun river. At Buffalo River through the summertime highs are in the 90's; during summer nights
temperatures are in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and night lows at Buffalo River during the winter commonly sink into the 20's. Buffalo River is a wet place that gets lots of rain; the month with most of the rain is May; the driest of the months is January.
