The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This stretch of Buffalo River is 13.1 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why
not pack your camping stuff too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There's camping available near Buffalo River.
This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Kyles to Pruitt section is just one of them. When you're paddling down a Boston Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Briefly about the general area: If you desire a little side spree, try Sawmill Hollow, and a short trip to Cove Spring is always worthwhile. At Buffalo River during
the long summer days highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. All through the winter the highs are mostly in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Buffalo River. Yep, outdoors exciting stuff truly is plentiful here in the Boston
Mountains. Here at Buffalo River you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Harrison. All the water falling down from the sky makes Buffalo River a wet place; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
