If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section of Buffalo River is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting some good exercise
and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Boston Mountains is a great plus for this river. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The natural beauty of Newton County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.

the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 40's with temperatures at Buffalo River dipping down into the 20's during winter nights.
