If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Hasty to Carver stretch of Buffalo River is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has has enough mileage,
suitable for an afternoon trip. The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The nature scenery of
Arkansas and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.
Briefly about the general area: At Buffalo River throughout the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs throughout
the winter are frequently in the 40's; nighttime lows at Buffalo River during the wintertime regularly descend into the 20's. A lot of rain falls at Buffalo River; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain; January meanwhile is the driest month. These mountains
rock, just check out all the enjoyable stuff to do in the Boston Mountains. A visit to Stillhouse Hollow is always fun, and Chimney Rock Bluff is an attention-grabbing place to pop by while at Buffalo River.
