The wonderful Newton/Searcy County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Buffalo River beats anything. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The campgrounds here at Buffalo River are pretty good. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camping stuff. This stretch of Buffalo River
in Arkansas is 15.3 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Carver to Woolum stretch is just one of them. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The beauty of the Boston Mountains is a great plus for this river.

months is January. Through the summertime months here at Buffalo River, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's; the night is rather colder of course, regularly in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's while Buffalo River night low temperatures throughout the
winter are in the 20's. You absolutely must like the Boston Mountains. Don't leave Buffalo River without first checking out Clair Bluff. What would a place like Buffalo River be without out of the ordinary close by marks like Copper Bluff, and if you wish for a little side trip, try Ed Clair Hollow.
