The beautiful scenery of Searcy County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This stretch of Buffalo
River is 5.6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. There's camping available near Buffalo River. The Tyler Bend to Gilbert section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the long summer days at Buffalo River highs are mostly in the 90's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Buffalo
River. If you're here, you might as well visit Goodhue Hollow, and some exciting geology is available here, Lane Bend is right here. So much cool stuff to do here in the Boston Mountains, too tremendous to be true. Buck Point is relatively right next door to Buffalo River,
and since you're here at Buffalo River, checking out Tyler Bend is a must. This river is so wonderful. The high level of precipitation makes Buffalo River a reasonably wet place; the month with most of the rain is May while January is usually the driest month.
