If you're coming from Mountain Home it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas are easier than the national norm, so better not forget     that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. High   temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Buffalo River. Near Buffalo River you find great sites like McKinney Hollow. The high level of rain makes Buffalo River a relatively wet place; May is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month of the year is January.
