The Maumee to Buffalo Point section of Buffalo River in Searcy County is 10.9 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Mountain Home, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This river system is full of great paddling sections,
the Maumee to Buffalo Point section is just one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some
time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added bonus. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your sleeping bag. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy.
