The Buffalo Point to Rush Landing section of Buffalo River is 7.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The natural beauty of Arkansas and the water flowing gracefully down Buffalo River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're coming from Mountain Home it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas are easier than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The beauty of the Boston Mountains is a great plus for this river. For all you camping people there
are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Buffalo Point to Rush Landing section is just one of many. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime highs here at Buffalo River get into the 90's. Once
the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. Through the wintertime highs are mostly in the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Buffalo River sink into the 20's. Buffalo River is a wet place that gets a large amount of rainfall; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. A pleasant spot near Buffalo River is Panther Hollow.
