The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Mountain Home, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Arkansas and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right
nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater
rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This stretch of Buffalo River is 7.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: If you fancy a little side visit, try Panther Hollow. High temperatures at Buffalo River through the summertime are in the 90's, and the night is a little chillier of course,
regularly in the 60's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's while Buffalo River nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's. A large amount of rain falls at Buffalo River; May is when you get the most rain here, and January is the month with the least moisture.
