If you're coming from Mountain Home it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This stretch of Buffalo River in Arkansas is 24.4 miles long and it is classified as a
class I(II) section by American Whitewater. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Rush Landing to Buffalo City section is just one of many. The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Buffalo River without first checking out Crystal Point. Buffalo River frequently gets lots of rainfall;
the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest. At Buffalo River during the summertime highs are in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. Throughout the winter the highs are typically in the 40's, and overnight lows during the winter for Buffalo River tend to be in the 20's.
