Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas are easier than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The put-in is not too far from Fort Smith, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers.     Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. When you're paddling down a Boston Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The wonderful Crawford County scenery and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: It's always tremendous to visit Oliver Springs. Cedar Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation; most of the rain falls all through May; January on the other hand is the driest.   Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Cedar Creek. Through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Cedar Creek temperatures plunge to the 20's.
