If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The beautiful scenery of Newton County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. This stretch of Clark Creek is 1 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road
map further down the page so you won’t get lost. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is an extremely short stretch
so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The Lost Valley section is the only paddling section along Clark Creek. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that.
Briefly about the general area: Clark Creek is a relatively wet place mostly with a lot of
rainfall; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January is when it's the driest. During the months of summer at Clark Creek temperatures are regularly in the 90's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. High temperatures through the wintertime
are normally in the 40's while Clark Creek overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's. All year is a wonderful time in the Boston Mountains if you fancy the outdoors. A journey to Eden Falls will fill your spirit with delightful feelings, and Clark Creek is in the vicinity of Gossett Hollow which is certainly worth a visit.
