Arkansas whitewater - Clear Creek, Boston Mountains, Crawford County
Crawford
county,
Chester to Mountainburg section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 6 miles
This stretch of water is challenging. A lot of rapdids coming one after the other insures no boredom. We put in at Chester and rode it into Frog Bayou with the level at 2.9 We can hardly wait to see what it's like 3.5! Says Beth grimwood
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The nature scenery of Crawford County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. The Boston Mountains scenery
is wonderful. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number
of paddling places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section of Clear Creek is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater.
