  This section of Cossatot River in Arkansas is 6.25 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. The beautiful scenery of Arkansas and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you've been
    whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Ed Banks Road to Highway 278/4 section
is just one of many. The river winds through the Ouachita Mountains and you get great scenery. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip.

in the 40's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Cossatot River tend to be in the 20's. If you desire a little side journey, try Devils Hollow.
Cossatot River is a wet location that gets a large amount of rain; through May this area sees the most rain while January is commonly the driest month.
