Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping     people there are campgrounds nearby. This section of Cossatot River in Howard and Polk County is 6.25 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The Ouachita Mountains scenery is wonderful. The Ed Banks Road to Highway 278/4 stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Cossatot River; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Cossatot River. A great site to explore next to Cossatot River is Devils Hollow.
