CLASS I-II 52 miles
The put-in is not too far from Mountain Home, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Crooked Creek is 52 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Arkansas and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. There are campgrounds
quite near the river where you can camp. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater paddling here in the Ozarks is a great experience. No matter if you're
whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, so better bring your camping gear along. Crooked Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Harman to Highway 101 stretch is the only one. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here.
