The put-in is not too far from Arkadelphia, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The Highway 283 to Highway 67 stretch of De Roche Creek in Hot Spring/Clark County is 5.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. De Roche Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Highway 283 to Highway 67 stretch is the only one. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some
quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. There are some good hotels near
the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. The beautiful Ouachita Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at De Roche Creek mostly tend to be in the 90's; the night
is fairly colder of course, frequently in the 70's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to De Roche Creek. A large amount of rainfall falls at De Roche Creek; the month with most of the rain is May; January is when it's the driest.
