The beautiful scenery of Pope County and the water flowing gracefully down Galla Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas tend     to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. There's camping available near Galla Creek. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Crow MtNorth Road to Galla Creek Lake section is the only paddling section along Galla Creek. If you're coming from Russellville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Galla Creek a wet site; through May this area sees   the most rain, and January is when it's the driest. During the summer highs here at Galla Creek get into the 90's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Galla Creek throughout the winter mostly sink into the 20's.
