This section of Graves Creek in Arkansas is 1.9 miles long and has been rated as a class III+(IV) section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Russellville, as you can see on the road map further down. The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier
than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. There are no other stretches to paddle along Graves Creek than the Headwaters to Big Piney Creek stretch. The natural beauty of Arkansas and the playfulness of the
water beats anything. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came.
Briefly about the general area: You must stop at Felkins Point when you're here at Graves Creek, and going for a hike on the Grassy Point Trail is always a nice adventure. Through the warm days of summer, highs usually are in the 90's at Graves Creek. Once the sun is down it falls down to
the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Graves Creek. Graves Creek typically gets a large amount of rainfall; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain while January is typically the driest month. Just can't get enough of the Boston Mountains.
