The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This section of Graves Creek in Pope County is 1.9 miles long and it is classified as a class III+(IV) section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Russellville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is quite
short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Graves Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Headwaters to Big Piney Creek stretch is the only one. The beautiful scenery of Pope County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here
worthwhile. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful.

most rain; the driest of the months is January. Just can't get enough of the Boston Mountains. Not far from Graves Creek you hit upon Felkins Point, and going for a hike on the Grassy Point Trail is always a good adventure. During the long summer days at Graves Creek temperatures
are ordinarily in the 90's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's while Graves Creek nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's.
