If you're coming from Hot Springs it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Arkansas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Ouachita Mountains scenery is wonderful. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are
lots of good places for that around here. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master
than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Gulpha Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Ridgeway Road to Highway 270 stretch is the only one. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
