The Highway 246 to Highway 278/4 stretch of Harris Creek in Howard County is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III+ section. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very     popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. When you're paddling down a Ouachita Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is the only paddling section along Harris Creek. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Briefly about the general area: All through the summer highs here at Harris Creek get into the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's; during the dark hours in the winter at Harris Creek temperatures sink to the 20's.
