The starting location is a reasonable drive from Fort Smith, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The to Highway 220 stretch of Hart Creek is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV(V) section of whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The to Highway 220 stretch     is the only paddling stretch along Hart Creek. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: Now, you may feel that's heaps but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the Boston Mountains. Don't leave Hart Creek without first paying a visit to Whiskey Spring; nearby you find the Butterfield Hiking Trail   which is a fine hiking trail. At Hart Creek through the summertime highs are in the 90's. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Hart Creek. Hart Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain while January is generally the driest month.
