This stretch of Haw Creek in Arkansas is 4 miles long and is a class II-III+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Arkansas and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people
coming here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of
paddling spots. The beauty of the Boston Mountains is a great plus for this river. There are no other sections to paddle along Haw Creek than the Along Highway 23 section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of rainfall makes Haw Creek a pretty wet site; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain;
January on the other hand is the driest. Whohoo, so many enjoyable things in one place! The Boston Mountains is great!. A great location to pop by close to Haw Creek is Bowman Hollow, and good hiking is available along the Grassy Point Trail. At Haw Creek during the summertime
months highs are in the 90's, and the nighttime is a bit colder of course, regularly in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Haw Creek.
