The Along Highway 23 stretch of Haw Creek in Arkansas is 4 miles long and is a class II-III+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Arkansas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. On this section you do get some distance, you can
easily run it on an afternoon. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are no other stretches to paddle along Haw Creek than the Along Highway 23 stretch. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. The starting point is
not too far from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: Bowman Hollow is a pleasant place to stop by close by; Haw Creek is right by the Grassy
Point Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Boston Mountains. During the summer at Haw Creek temperatures are frequently in the 90's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows
in the 20's to Haw Creek. Haw Creek gets a good deal of water; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest.
