This stretch of Hurricane Creek in Arkansas is 9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II+ section of whitewater. The scenic beauty of Franklin County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There are no other
sections to paddle along Hurricane Creek than the ShoReservoir Lake to Highway 215 section. When you're paddling down a Boston Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons
to come. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: Hurricane Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation; May is when you get the most rain here, and January meanwhile is the driest month. If you fancy a little side trip, try Deer Creek Hollow, and hiking along the Shores Lake Water Rock Spur is wonderful
fun. Through the summertime months highs here at Hurricane Creek get into the 90's with nighttime lows in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's; night lows at Hurricane Creek all through the wintertime regularly plunge into the 20's. All the outdoors amusing things in the Boston Mountains will keep you coming back again and again.
