If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience. There are no other stretches
to paddle along Hurricane Creek than the Cub Creek to Big Piney stretch. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Cub Creek to Big Piney section of Hurricane Creek is 10 miles
long and has been rated as a class II-III+ section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Newton / Pope County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
