The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch of Illinois River     is 14.5 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. When you're paddling down a Ozarks river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Briefly about the general area: A large amount of rain falls   at Illinois River; May is the wettest month with most rain while January is ordinarily the driest month. Put some time aside to spend at Elkhorn Springs while you're here at Illinois River. High temperatures at Illinois River during the warm months are in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 40's while Illinois River nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's.
