If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The put-in location is a short drive from Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. No     shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. When you're paddling down a Ozarks river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Prairie Grove to Robinson Road stretch is one of them. The beautiful scenery of Washington County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Illinois River without first   paying a visit to Elkhorn Springs. Lots of rain falls at Illinois River; May is the month that gets the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. Summertime highs at Illinois River frequently tend to be in the 90's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are commonly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Illinois River are in the 20's.
