The natural beauty of Benton County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Highway 16 to Arkansas 59 section is one of many paddling sections in this river     system. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. This section of Illinois River is 5.1 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The wild scenery of the Ozarks is great. Briefly about the general area: Illinois River generally gets much precipitation; September is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. For the duration of the long summer days highs here   at Illinois River get into the 90's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's while Illinois River night low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's.
