The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The Bayou Bluff to Hector stretch of Illinois Bayou in Arkansas is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The campgrounds here at Illinois Bayou are pretty good. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from
| the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too.
