The nature scenery of Arkansas and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. If you're coming from Russellville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Bayou Bluff to Hector section of Illinois Bayou is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your
car. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. And
of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful.

in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 60's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; nighttime lows through the wintertime for Illinois Bayou tend to be in the 20's. The high level of precipitation makes Illinois Bayou a reasonably wet location; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and January on the other hand is the driest.
