Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The scenic beauty of Arkansas and the water flowing gracefully down Jack Creek have people coming here. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Ouachita Mountains is
a great plus for this river. The Jack Creek Road to Jack Creek Rec Area section of Jack Creek in Logan County is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III+ section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an
area with plenty of rivers for that. This is a somewhat short section so better bring some good walking shoes. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are no other sections to paddle along Jack Creek than the Jack Creek Road to Jack Creek Rec Area section.
Briefly about the general area: The Magazine Hiking Trail offers hiking at its best. For the duration of the months of summer at Jack Creek highs are regularly in the 90's with overnight lows in the 60's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Jack Creek. Lots of rainfall falls at Jack Creek; May is the month that gets the most rain while January is commonly the driest month.
