The wonderful Logan County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The Jack Creek Road to Jack Creek Rec Area section is the only paddling section along Jack Creek. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one,
but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Ouachita Mountains is a great plus for this river. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in
one stretch. This stretch of Jack Creek is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+ section. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the Magazine Hiking Trail is great fun. For the period of the days of summer at Jack Creek temperatures are frequently in the 90's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's while Jack Creek nighttime
low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 20's. Jack Creek is a rather wet place mostly with a good deal of precipitation; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is January.
