The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Crawford Washington County and the water flowing gracefully down Lee Creek will make you feel great. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Devils Den State Park to Highway 220 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you
might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers
here are suitable for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The Devils Den State Park to Highway 220 stretch of Lee Creek in Arkansas is 8.4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience.
Briefly about the general area: Through the long summer days highs here at Lee Creek get
into the 90's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 60's. Highs during the winter are usually in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Lee Creek. Lee Creek is a wet site that gets a good deal of rainfall; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain; January meanwhile is the driest month. Lee Creek is right by the Butterfield Hiking Trail.
