The natural beauty of Pope County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in is not too far from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This section of Left Hand Prong in Arkansas is 8.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The Headwaters to Victor Road section is the only paddling section along Left |

Hand Prong. The beauty of the Boston Mountains is a great plus for this river. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping
| in your car. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip.

Go for a hike on the Boyd Trail, and don't leave Left Hand Prong without first going for a hike along the Sulphur Trail. Left Hand Prong regularly gets a good deal of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is May; January meanwhile is the driest month.
