The starting location is a short drive from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Left Hand Prong doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Headwaters to Victor Road section is the only one. The campgrounds here at Left Hand Prong are pretty good. The natural     beauty of Arkansas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that rivers here are less demanding. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Briefly about the general area: All the outdoors entertaining stuff in the Boston Mountains will keep you coming back again and again. On a fine day at Left Hand Prong   you can take a hike along the Boyd Trail, and the Sulphur Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close by. During the months of summer here at Left Hand Prong, high temperatures typically get into the 90's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are frequently in the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Left Hand Prong dip into the 20's. Left Hand Prong gets much water; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain; the driest month is January.
