This section of Little Buffalo River - East Fork in Newton County is 7.3 miles long and is a class III-IV(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Newton County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The campgrounds here at Little Buffalo River - East Fork are pretty good. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. This river system has a few good paddling sections
and the Deer to Murray section is one of them. If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip.
