Arkansas whitewater - Little Missouri River, Ouachita Mountains, Montgomery/ Pike County Montgomery/ Pike county, Albert Pike Campgound to Highway 84 Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III+(IV)     8.5 miles   The beautiful scenery of Arkansas and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The Albert Pike Campgound to Highway 84 Bridge stretch of Little Missouri River is 8.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III+(IV) section. This is one of a small     number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. The beautiful Ouachita Mountains scenery is an added bonus. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Little Missouri River sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Through the months of summer at Little   Missouri River temperatures are frequently in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 60's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 50's with temperatures at Little Missouri River dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights.
