The put-in location is a short drive from Harrison, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Newton County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arkansas are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The Hike in from CR 28 to East Fork Little Buffalo section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to
drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Long Branch is 5.5 miles long
and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.
Briefly about the general area: The Alum Cove National Recreation Trail offers hiking at its best, and a cool spot to stop by is Rainbow Bluff. If you have a thing about the outdoors you'll have a thing
about it here in the Boston Mountains. Thomas Hollow is in the neighborhood of Long Branch and is a fine spot. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Long Branch get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the
winter are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Long Branch are in the 20's. Long Branch mostly gets a large amount of rain; the month with most of the rain is May, and January is the month with the least moisture.
