Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. The wild scenery of the Boston Mountains is great. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're coming     from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This stretch of Long Branch is 5.5 miles long and is a class III-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: Long Branch is a reasonably wet place commonly with a large amount of precipitation; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. The warmest time of the year brings highs   in the 80's to Long Branch, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are mostly in the 40's while Long Branch night low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 20's. Thomas Hollow is near Long Branch and is a great location; you can go for a hike on the Alum Cove National Recreation Trail. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Boston Mountains.
