The put-in location is a short drive from Harrison, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Newton County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. There's camping available near Long Devil's Fork. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system,
there are a few others too. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that
rivers here are less demanding. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Long Devil's Fork are in the 20's. The high level of precipitation makes Long Devil's Fork a pretty wet place; most of the
rain falls during May while January is generally the driest month. Nearby Sugar Gap is a magnificent location to go if you're at Long Devil's Fork, and there's delightful hiking along the Pedestal Rocks Trail. This location, the Boston Mountains, has so much outdoors amusing things. Don't leave Long Devil's Fork without first going for a hike along the Hideout Trail.
