The Devil's Canyon to Highway 215 section of Mill Creek is 5.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III+ section of whitewater. The Devil's Canyon to Highway 215 section is the only paddling section along Mill Creek. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience. The nature scenery of Franklin County and the water flowing
gracefully down Mill Creek will make you feel great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from
far and near. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip.
Briefly about the general area: Fern Spring is always fun to check out, and a great place to take a look at is Devils Canyon. At Mill Creek all through the summer highs are in the 90's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge
down into the 60's. Highs all through the winter are typically in the 40's with temperatures at Mill Creek dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. So many enjoyable things to do in the Boston Mountains, not enough time. Mill Creek sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and January on the other hand is the driest.
