  The Headwaters to Mill Creek stretch of Mormon Creek in Franklin County is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV(V) section. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The scenic beauty of Arkansas and the water flowing gracefully down Mormon Creek make the trip here worthwhile. Not too many hotels
    nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are no other stretches to paddle along Mormon Creek than the Headwaters to Mill Creek stretch. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a
bit of a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places.

During the summer at Mormon Creek temperatures are frequently in the 90's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Highs all through the wintertime are generally in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Mormon Creek. Fern Spring is
 
a charming location to visit while you're at Mormon Creek.
Mormon Creek sees pretty high levels of rain; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and January is when it's the driest.
