Says Phil Houston This river has some very fun rapids on it, if you launch at Redding Camp be ready to get right into it for your first drop. As you launch the water seems flat in the pool with a rope swing to your right of the launch and rock ledges across the shore where people go to swim. Just down from this is a great play rapid with a forgiving pool below to catch swamped canoes. My Brother, his wife and 6 month old baby did this river with me this spring. Although I dont suggest taking a baby on the river, he's a adrenaline junky from birth and he loved it the whole time. I   will always love floating the Mulberry and optimal water level is 2.8 feet at the USGS gauge near Mulberry, AR( http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=07252000) but can be floated when the gauge reads no lower than 2.0 for an enjoyable float. The Wolf Pen Recreation Area to Redding Campground stretch of Mulberry River is 12 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Wolf Pen Recreation Area to Redding Campground section is just one of them. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The nature scenery of Arkansas and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's; night lows at Mulberry River throughout the wintertime mostly plunge into the 20's.
