Franklin Johnson
county,
Wolf Pen Recreation Area to Redding Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-III 12 miles
This river is great for a workout and moves very quickly when the river is right. This is not a lazy drinking river. Great adrenaline rush and the wild life is great too. Lots of red eared sliders and various water snakes. Deer are abundant here too. If you want a challenge but don't want to be under water all day, this is the one. However, watch the river gauge. It fluctuates. Says Phil Houston

This river
has some very fun rapids on it, if you launch at Redding Camp be ready to get right into it for your first drop. As you launch the water seems flat in the pool with a rope swing to your right of the launch and rock ledges across the shore where people go to swim. Just down from this is a great play rapid with a forgiving pool below to catch swamped canoes. My Brother, his wife and 6 month old baby did this river with me this spring. Although I dont suggest taking a baby on the river, he's a adrenaline junky from birth and he loved it the whole time. I
will always love floating the Mulberry and optimal water level is 2.8 feet at the USGS gauge near Mulberry, AR( http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=07252000) but can be floated when the gauge reads no lower than 2.0 for an enjoyable float. Says Josh Winters
The natural beauty of Arkansas and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas are easier than the national norm, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This section of Mulberry River
