The nature scenery of Franklin County and the water flowing gracefully down Mulberry River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The wild scenery of the Boston Mountains is great. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This section of Mulberry River in Franklin County is 3.6 miles long and it is classified
as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the
Redding Campground to Highway 23 section is just one of them. This is a bit of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people.
Briefly about the general area: Since you're here at Mulberry River why not have a look at McMillan Hollow, and nearby
you hit upon the Spy Rock Redding Loop which is a fine hiking trail. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Mulberry River, and the overnight is slightly colder of course, typically in the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's while Mulberry River overnight
low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 20's. You simply have to have a thing about the Boston Mountains. Much rainfall falls at Mulberry River; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
