The Campbell's Cemetery to Highway 215 section of Mulberry River in Arkansas is 16 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Crawford Franklin County and the water flowing gracefully down Mulberry River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp
stove too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,
either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience. The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners.
Briefly about the general area: Mulberry River gets a lot of water; May is the month that gets the most rain while January is ordinarily the driest month. Deer Creek Hollow is a good site to go to close by, and if the weather is
splendid, you can go for a hike along the Shores Lake Water Rock Spur. High temperatures at Mulberry River all through the warm months are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's with temperatures at Mulberry
River dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Boston Mountains.
