The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Arkansas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Barkshed to Allison section is the only paddling section
along North Sylamore Creek. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Barkshed to Allison stretch of North Sylamore Creek in Stone County is 12.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing
to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The put-in is not too far from Mountain Home, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater paddling here in the Boston Mountains is a great experience.
Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes North Sylamore Creek a wet place; through May this area sees the most rain, and January meanwhile is
the driest month. High temperatures at North Sylamore Creek during the warm days of summer are in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are typically in the 40's with temperatures at North Sylamore Creek
dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. All year is a great time in the Boston Mountains if you adore the outdoors. A tour to North Sylamore Creek wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Branscum Spring, and close by you hit upon great places like Caney Hollow.
