If you're coming from Mountain Home it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arkansas are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The scenic beauty of Stone County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Barkshed to Allison stretch
is the only paddling stretch along North Sylamore Creek. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Not too many hotels nearby,
you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This stretch of North Sylamore Creek is 12.5 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.

North Sylamore Creek is a wet location that gets a lot of rain; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is January. Don't leave North Sylamore Creek without first paying a visit to Branscum Spring; if you yearn for a little side trip,
try Caney Hollow. High temperatures at North Sylamore Creek during the warmest time of the year are in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at North Sylamore Creek.
