The Compton to Carroll County Road 11 stretch of Osage Creek is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Osage Creek are pretty good. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places.     A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. When you're paddling down a Boston Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is the only paddling section along Osage Creek. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. Briefly about the general area: Osage Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest of the months is January. A good spot to check out near   Osage Creek is Owl Hollow. At Osage Creek during the summer months highs are in the 90's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Osage Creek temperatures plunge to the 20's.
