  The nature scenery of Arkansas and the cool fresh water have people coming here. This stretch of Ouachita River in Polk and Montgomery County is 35.4 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. The beautiful Ouachita Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Acorn to Little
    Hope Road stretch is one of them. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Not
too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere.

Ouachita River is a wet spot that gets a good deal of precipitation; May is the month that gets the most rain; January is the month with the least moisture.
During the long summer days, highs commonly
 
are in the 90's at Ouachita River. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 50's, and overnight lows all through the winter for Ouachita River tend to be in the 20's.
