The natural beauty of Arkansas and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Arkansas is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping     bag too. The river winds through the Ouachita Mountains and you get great scenery. The campgrounds here at Ouachita River are pretty good. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Little Hope Road to USFS Dragover Campground section is one of them. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Ouachita River is a wet site that gets much precipitation; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is January. Summer at Ouachita River arrives with high temperatures in the 90's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures   through the winter are normally in the 50's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Ouachita River dip into the 20's.
