  The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The wonderful Hot Spring County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This section of Ouachita River is 6 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds
    nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Ouachita Mountains is a great experience. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you
don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Hot Springs, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon.

Briefly about the general area:
Through the months of summer at Ouachita River temperatures are commonly in the 90's while night lows are ordinarily in the 70's. The cold days of the wintertime
 
come with highs in the 50's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Ouachita River. The high level of precipitation makes Ouachita River a rather wet place; the month with most of the rain is March while January is mostly the driest month.
Long Hollow is a wonderful location to discover.
