If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The scenic beauty of Arkansas and the beautiful way the water     current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Ouachita Mountains scenery is wonderful. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The put-in location is a short drive from Hot Springs, as you can see on the road map further down. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Remmel Dam to I-30 at Malvern section is one of them. Briefly about the general area: During the summertime highs here at Ouachita River get into the 90's with night lows in the 70's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 50's with temperatures at Ouachita River dipping down   into the 20's through winter nights. If you desire a little side trip, try Long Hollow. The high level of precipitation makes Ouachita River a rather wet site; the month with most of the rain is March, and January meanwhile is the driest month.
