If you're coming from Harrison it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The natural beauty of Arkansas and the water flowing gracefully down Richland Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This stretch of Richland Creek is 8.5 miles long
and is a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. There
are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Richland Creek Campground to NFR 1201 stretch is one of them. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here.
