Arkansas whitewater - Rock Creek, Ouachita Mountains, Pulaski County
Pulaski
county,
Chenal Parkway to Boyle Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II+ 7.2 miles
You've got to be kidding me... The only time there's enough water in this creek to float would be after a huge storm, at that point we are talking flood stage. Then you are talking about going through the heart of Little Rock, with street overpasses some barely clearing the creek, lots of debris, etc. Says Noel
The wonderful Pulaski County scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in is not too far from Little Rock-North Little Rock, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road
map further down the page. The Chenal Parkway to Boyle Park stretch of Rock Creek is 7.2 miles long and is a class II+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Ouachita Mountains
scenery is an added bonus. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good places for that around here. Rock Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Chenal Parkway to Boyle Park section is the only one. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The average Arkansas
whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding.
